Visitor and Customer Internet Privacy Statement
This
privacy policy applies to all aspects of Emergency Training Associates,
and the web sites all web sites created and/or maintained by the
company.
Protecting your privacy is a top priority to us. The
following describes how we collect, use and protect any personal,
business or data information you provide to us via our web site, email,
telephone, fax or mail. Please note that the only secure way of
transmitting information to us is through SSL, which you will notice on
our online store's checkout pages.
What We Collect
We use a standard log utility that provides statistics to us in regard
to how many pages are being accessed on our site. While visiting our
standard web site (noted in your browser address as pages ending in
.shtml, .html or .htm) this information is stored in a log file for the
purpose of analyzing what pages are accessed, which files are
downloaded, and what errors occur. We review which top domain addresses
visit our site. This process does not collect any personal information
about you or your business. These logs are stored in a secure area
temporarily, until reports are run, then are removed from our server.
When
you register for updates, your name and email address only are written
to a secure file and stored on our server which is a secure system. We
do not sell, trade or distribute your email address to anyone. This
information is used to send you updates you have requested. You may be
removed from this email list at any time by emailing
support@emsbooks.com.
When you shop our online store, a SESSION
ID tracks movements and your IP address is stored for authentication
reasons only. This is standard in all shopping cart programs. Your name,
address and contact information is stored securely and is used ONLY to
notify you about your order or status thereof, or to inform you of
updates to products. We use this information to compile an in-house
mailing list. This information is not shared with others. Your credit
card information is stored securely, in a different location than your
contact information.
Our online store uses cookies to identify
you and your movement through our store. A cookie is a small file stored
on your computer, which expires by a certain date. Our cookies do not
track your movement throughout the Internet and do not, ever, send us
information about you when you are not on our site.
What We Do
With It
After you shop with us, your name, address, telephone number and email,
along with your order are kept on file for two reasons: 1. To reference
should you have questions regarding your order; 2. To notify you of any
special updates or security issues about your purchase. This information
is never sold, traded or distributed to others.
What You Can Do
You have the option to opt-out of any notification.
To be removed
from the email list or our standard mailing list, send an email to
support@emsbooks.com. It is our policy to immediately respond to these
requests.

From time to time, we may make changes to this policy. Those changes will be reflected on this page.
Credit Card Security
When
you walk into a store, you know who you are dealing with. You see the
products, the branding and the store assistant. You can be sure that if
something should be wrong with your purchase, you’ll have recourse to
the store manager or owner. But on the Internet, website visitors
generally have no reliable way of knowing who owns the website (the
virtual store). When you visit a website with the intent of making an
online purchase, you should know whom you’ll be paying and have proof of
the identity of the website owner, and be confident that the personal
information you send to the website cannot be intercepted by other
Internet users. This is where SSL digital certificates come to the fore.
SSL
(Secure Socket Layer) is a protocol developed by Netscape that enables a
web browser and a web server to communicate securely; it allows the web
browser to authenticate the web server. The SSL protocol requires the
web server to have a digital certificate installed on it in order for an
SSL connection to be made.
Thanks to our SSL-enabled web server
and SSL certificate, you are assured of three things: Authentication:
The website really is owned by Emergency Training Associates. Message
privacy: Using a unique "session key", SSL encrypts all information
exchanged between you and our web server, such as credit card numbers
and other personal data, ensuring that personal information cannot be
viewed if it is intercepted by unauthorized parties. Message integrity:
The data cannot be tampered with over the Internet.
Third-Party
Web Beacons: We use third-party web beacons from Yahoo! to help analyze
where visitors go and what they do while visiting our website. Yahoo!
may also use anonymous information about your visits to this and other
websites in order to improve its products and services and provide
advertisements about goods and services of interest to you. If you would
like more information about this practice and to know your choices
about not having this information used by Yahoo!, click here.
If
you are concerned about the security of your credit card, or any
information you are transmitting to us through the website please
contact us by telephone at 800 367-0382.
