by: IFSTA ©1997 Published by: IFSTA The Incident Management System Curriculum was developed by the University Fire and Emergency Training Consortium and is designed to teach the National Fire Service Incident Management System (IMS). It combines command strategy with organizational procedures and is designed to be used primarily for structural fire incidents using up to 25 fire companies. Module One includes basic incident command procedures and command structure using Divisions and Groups, or Secors. Module Two adds the use of Branches, Sections, Command Staff, and Unified Command into the model. Each module is designed to be taught in approximately six hours. The primary technical reference for this course is the Model Procedures Guide for Stuctural Firefighting. (Package includes Student Workbook, Instructor Guide, and PowerPoint slides on CD-ROM).
